This week I took on the task of hiring a coach. I got some recommendations from a few people who I respect that Mike Davies in Columbus is THE man to go to for figure/competition training. So a few emails back and forth and I am currently under his wing.
I’m very excited about this for a number of reasons:
1. It seems no one goes into a competition without a coach/trainer so this was something that I had to do eventually.
2. I was going to just continue to follow Pauline Nordin’s Fighter Diet program (I have one more week left of the program I purchased) but I felt perhaps getting some 1 on 1 attention was/is necessary at this point.
3. Mike lives and is based in Columbus which is only a 2 hour drive from me. It’s already been suggested I try to come down to one of his 3 day Fitness Camps, which are
super freakin expensive not cheap but I knew going in this “hobby” would be an investment.
4. I hate to waste money so I’m much more likely to
listen do whatever he says rather just half heartily follow a cookie cutter program.
I’ll be sure to update with my continued progress! This morning I’m down yet another pound but I can already tell I’m not eating nearly enough. Most days are sporadic too, with no consistency of grams/amounts of macronutrients. One day I’ll take in 1200 calories, the next I’ll eat close to 1800. That’s definitely something that I’m sure Mike will have me change ASAP. I’m very excited to see what he has in store for me! Hopefully more good news to come.
I’m already excited about tomorrow’s workout – those lovely pyramid deadlifts.
I realize this is not
normal typical behavior for someone to be THIS excited about the gym, but I can’t help it!
One little, last thing I wanted to share was that every month I change my screensaver on my iPhone to a different Figure Competitor that I look up to and aspire to be like. Although this journey is completely my own, I think it’s good to have a good amount of motivation. October was Nicole Wilkins, November was Pauline Nordin and this month I changed it to Felicia Romero. Every month I’ll change it to someone else until the month of my competition, when my hope is that I’ll change it to a picture of ME, coming full circle.
That’s going to be a great day and I’m smiling like an idiot thinking of that moment already.
Here’s to a fabulous weekend!!
